The IKEA Museum in Älmhult will re-open 15 June. The museum has been temporary closed since 16 March due to the COVID-19 but is now opening its doors again.

“We’re very happy to finally be able to welcome all visitors back to IKEA Museum. Some of our exhibitions had just recently open when we close down the museum. Now we’re looking forward to share our exhibitions to the public again and we have therefor extended our temporary exhibitions to this fall”, says Cecilia Johansson, Managing Director IKEA Museum.

The outbreak of COVID-19 put IKEA, the society and the world in a totally new and unknown situation. Because of the insecure circumstances the IKEA Museum decided to temporary closedown from 16 March earlier this year.

Since the closure safety actions has been taken to create a safe environment and prevent further spreading of the virus. The actions follow the guidelines and general recommendations from the public health authorities in Sweden, Folkhälsomyndigheten and includes smaller visiting groups and safety distance between visitors.

“Protecting the health of our co-workers and visitors is always our top priority. We continually evaluate the situation and closely follow the recommendations and guidelines from the authorities”, says Cecilia Johansson.

The IKEA Museum will open again on June 15 and be open Monday to Sunday 10-18. The IKEA Museum shop and the restaurant KÖKET will open at the same time.

All exhibitions will be open with smaller restrictions around their interactive parts. The temporary exhibitions “Sustain Able Voices – Ung Svensk Form 2004-2020” and “Look Music!” are extended until the fall of 2020.
