Existence Maximum – big ideas for small spaces
15 December sees the opening of a new exhibition at IKEA Museum, based around the fact that more and more people are living in smaller spaces. Already today, the majority of the world’s population is living in cities and by 2030, 40% of all homes are expected 1 to be smaller than 60 m2. The need for smart solutions is huge when living spaces are minimal.

IKEA Museum launches a new collection
As a homage to its roots in Älmhult, Småland, IKEA Museum is launching a new collection focusing on the post code 343 36 – the location of the first ever IKEA store, and now IKEA Museum. The new collection is being launched on 30 May and will be on sale at the IKEA Museum pop-up shop at Magasin 405 during the H22 City Expo in Helsingborg, and at IKEA Museum in Älmhult.

New exhibition on the Democratic Design
Can something be sustainable if the many people can’t afford it, and can a beautiful product without function still be great design? Not according to the principles of Democratic Design, the philosophy behind product development at IKEA – the topic of a new exhibition opening at IKEA Museum in Älmhult, Sweden on 29 April.

Young Swedish Design 2022
Today, the participants in Young Swedish Design 2022 are officially announced. The design exhibition opens at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm on 7 February, and will then tour to Skellefteå, Helsingborg, Gothenburg and Malmö later in the year. IKEA Museum in Älmhult has co-produced and curated the dazzling exhibition, which shows the latest from the young design scene in Sweden and encompasses furniture, fashion, arts and crafts, architecture, industrial design and graphic design.
