Finally, it’s time for Christmas break
Let your creativity loose and join us at IKEA Museum to create your own Christmas and New year’s decorations, join a VR adventure – or follow in the steps of Santa.
VERKSTAN
Do you want to create your very own Christmas and New year’s decorations? Maybe a Santa or two or a sparkling New year’s star? Welcome to VERKSTAN during the Christmas break – we have all it takes!
By the way, did you know that many of our Christmas traditions mix old Swedish customs and influences from abroad? The decorated Christmas tree, for example, came to Sweden from Germany at the end of the 19th century. And the gift-bearing Santa didn’t appear until the 20th century. That was also the century that brought us Advent candles, Advent calendars, Advent stars and Advent candlesticks – all from Germany.
Experience a new world in VR
Get ready for a VR experience that lets you meet the world in a new way. We’ll meet in the IKEA Museum entrance on 27-29 December and 3-5 January at 10.30 and be ready an hour later.
Follow in Santa’s footsteps
If you want to take a break from creating fabulous decorations, you can instead go on a journey in the footsteps of Santa. Can you find him?
Follow in the steps of Santa anytime you like during the opening hours at IKEA Museum, 10:00-18:00.
Take a guided tour
The Story of IKEA is an exciting journey through history for visitors of all ages. On 7-8 January, you’re welcome to join the museum’s knowledgeable guides for open tours. Read more here.
