Opening of the exhibition Trailblazers – design her way

Join us for the opening of the exhibition Trailblazers – design her way

On 4 June at 10:45, we invite you to an inspiring opening event. Together with two of the trailblazers featured in the exhibition and our curator Anna Sandberg Falk, we will explore how design can become a tool for social change.

Meet Nila Rezaei, Iranian-Australian designer and the creative force behind Crafted Liberation – a project in which stadium seats made from headscarves honour the resilience of Iranian women and their fight for equality. Also joining the conversation is Swedish designer Sara Szyber – interior designer, furniture designer, industrial designer and university lecturer – whose work is deeply rooted in sustainability, functionality and social engagement.

Together, we’ll discuss themes such as social design, building community through creativity, and the role of women in the world of design.

The exhibition opens during Democratic Design Days in Älmhult, 4–5 June – two days filled with talks, music, food and creative encounters, all in the spirit of democratic design.

That same day, the Museum of Furniture Studies will launch a pop-up exhibition in Älmhult, showcasing iconic designs alongside works by master’s students from Swedish design schools.
