Perspectives on Design

How is our present reflected in the design of tomorrow? In connection with the Young Swedish Design 2026 exhibition, your class is invited to take part in a workshop where design becomes a tool for exploring the world we live in today and imagining the future. Through discussion, observation and reflection, students will discover how emerging designers engage with themes such as sustainability, reuse, circularity, identity, inclusion and a changing society.

During the workshop, we explore not only what the objects represent or how they function, but also the thoughts and emotions they evoke. Why are we drawn to certain forms of expression? How do materials, colour and form influence our experience? And what stories do the designers seek to tell? *

Using the exhibition as a starting point, participants will analyse, discuss and interpret design from both aesthetic and social perspectives.

The workshop is adapted to the age and prior knowledge of each group and is suitable for both lower secondary school pupils and university students. Its aim is to strengthen participants’ ability to observe, analyse and discuss design in relation to contemporary social issues.
